Apple has launched the sale of her first folded phone, the XiPhoone Duoï, with a price approaching 2,000 dollars and limited amounts at her stores worldwide.
According to Reuters, this launch marks the American giant’s entry in direct competition with producers like Samsung and Huawei, in a segment of the market where folded equipment has gained more and more attention.
The launch also constitutes one of the first important tests for the company’s new executive chief, John Ternus.
High interest in the equipment is said to have immediately exceeded the available stock, causing the shipments to be postponed until the end of January.
To manage the demand, Apple has imposed restrictions on purchase, allowing each customer to purchase up to two devices.
Apple’s entry into the folded phone market is expected to increase competition among key producers, while it remains to be seen how the new device will affect this segment of the market.
