A police chase in Skenderaj has ended in a serious accident, as a car attempting to evade police allegedly hit the official vehicle, getting it off the road. Two police officials have remained injured, while the suspected driver has left, then abandoning the accident car in another village, the Signal newspaper reports.
The event took place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at around 21:45, in the village of Lausasha, Squitheright.
According to information provided by the signal, it all started when a police patrol, during the conduct of regular tasks, noticed a civilian car with local license plates moving dangerously.
Police officials signaled the driver to stop, but he disobeyed the order and quickly left in the direction of Lyusha.
The patrol went after the vehicle, trying to stop it.
At one point during the pursuit, the suspected vehicle hit the police vehicle, pulling it off the road.
As a result of the shock, the official car crashed into an electric pole, while the two policemen inside suffered bodily injuries.
But the driver of the suspected vehicle did not stop even after the accident.
Shortly thereafter, police found the car in the village of Rezalla, an accident and abandoned one, with no one inside.
The investigators immediately took action to find out who was behind the wheel.
During the investigation, the owner of the vehicle has been identified and interviewed, who claimed that he had been sent to a mechanic.
Police have also interviewed the mechanic who has provided another version of the circumstances.
According to his statement, the vehicle had been parked in front of the garage, while the keys remained inside the car. He has claimed to suspect that someone received her without authorization, but that he had not noticed her absence until he was contacted by police.
So the chase that ended with two injured policemen left another question behind: who was the one driving the car and left after the patrol hit?
Two injured police officials have initially received medical treatment at the Main Centre of Family Medicine in Skenderaj, while later sent to the Regional Hospital in Mitrovica.
After medical treatment, both have been released.
At the scene, relevant police units have emerged, which have conducted tests and necessary investigative actions.
With instructions from the State Attorney, the case has been initiated for the criminal work cause of general danger.
Until the latest information, police have not identified any suspected persons, while the investigation into the case is continuing.
