For nearly ten months, a total of 710 breast – care interventions have resulted in 319 cases of breast cancer at the Torakal Surgery Clinic in Kosovo’s Clinical and University Centre.
The director of this clinic, Nazmi Kolgeci, has indicated that other interventions have included needle procedures and excisional biopsy.
According to him, the number of breast cancer cases during 2025 and 2026 is similar. However, given the decline in the population in Kosovo, he estimates this could indicate a tendency to increase cases.
Meanwhile, the number of breast reconstructions at KKUK remains markedly lower.
The plastic surgeon, Ylber Zenjulah, has announced that during this year only 13 breast reconstructions were carried out, despite efforts to encourage more patients to undergo this procedure.
He has stressed that from the beginning of these interventions, a total of 80 reconstructions have been completed, praising their outcome as successful.
The cost of rebuilding the bay in the private sector changes depending on the intervention, while it can spend another 3 thousand euros, he said on TV. DI CAGIN
