There’s no room for childicide in our society. The EU in Kosovo fully supports the following statement by the Group for Security and Djind, which consists of different parties of interest, says the EU Office in Kosovo, broadcasts Klankosova.tv.
In the statement, the group expresses deep concern for the case, stressing that the victim had sought urgent protection from institutions shortly before its death.
According to the group, this case raises serious concerns about institutional response to domestic violence and the need for more effective prevention, inter-institutional co-ordination and responsibility for any found failures.
The Gender Security and Equality Group requires the investigation to include reviewing the institutions’ response to the victim’s earlier defence requirements, as well as determining responsibility for any registered shortcomings.
Also, immediate co-ordination between the Kosovo Police, prosecutors, courts, victims’ advocates and social services is required to ensure precise risk assessments and effective protection for women facing violence.
Another requirement is to examine cases of high – risk domestic violence with the aim of identifying shortcomings in defence and preventing other tragic cases.
