The death toll goes to 64 from the 2 trains crash in Spain

There have been 64 deaths from the crash amid high-speed trains in Spain.

According to SkyNews reporting, trains had more than 500 passengers together. The accident occurred on tracks linking Andalusia and Madrid.

A Renfee train and Iryo-type train crashed shortly after 9: 00 a.m. local time, causing the exit from the tracks of two Iryo cars, said a government spokesman for the Castilla La Mancha region, adding that the cause and full number of victims are still being determined.

Images spread in social media show carts turned into a ditch, while emergency services have been called to the scene.

This is the second major deadly railway accident this year, following a January accident among high-speed trains belonging to the same operators on the same line, where 46 people lost their lives, writes Euronews.al.

The accident comes at a politically sensitive time for Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, who announced early elections on November 29th.
