The Kryptonate Binance giant reported that digital assets worth $6.3 billion have been affected by a cyberattack, which may be the largest ever recorded in cryptoid history. The company announced that about half of the assets have been frozen with the help of other platforms and promised to cover all losses.
According to Banance, preliminary checks suggest that the attack may be linked to an engineer’s laptop computer, which was compromised by unauthorized persons. This could have enabled attackers to perform illegal withdrawals of digital assets.
Two companies specialising in the transaction analysis with crypto notes, T RM Labs and Chainalysis have linked the attack to the group of North Korean hackers known as Trader Traitor.
According to the TM Labs, some elements of the attack on Binance resemble previous incidents that have been attributed to North Korea-related groups, including the attack on the Bybi platform in 2025, where about $1.5 billion was stolen.
Gold Redbord, the leader of global policies in the TM Labs, described the incident as a historic moment for the Krypton industry, stressing that it is unprecedented in size.
He warned that the attackers still possess a huge amount of stolen assets, as well as their investigation and recovery will be a difficult process.
Chainalysis also stated there is a high level of credibility that the North Korean group is linked to the attack. Eric Jardine, director of research at the company, called on all crypto-dollar platforms to increase alertness to cyber threats.
The balance did not provide a direct answer to claims on North Korea’s involvement, but said it is co-operating closely with the law enforcement authorities to identify responsible persons and bring them to justice.
The company explained that the incident relates to the international Biance.com platform. Meanwhile, Beanance. The US, which offers consumer trading services in the United States, said its platform was not affected by the attack, writes abcnews.al.
Investigations into author identification and asset recovery follow, and the case has turned its attention to cyber security risks in the cryptocle market.
