William Baeten is one of the most paid football players in Kosovo, at least according to figures published by the Romanian media. ProSport. Belgian footballer, who joined light during the summer of 2026, reportedly benefits about 12,500 euros a month.
That amount puts Baten among football players the highest wages ever reported in Kosovo football.
If the figure released by the Romanian media is accurate, it benefits about 150,000 euros a year from wages alone, without counting bonuses or other benefits that could be part of the deal with the gylanan club.
The 29-year-old Belgu came to Light after a period of career changes, first going through Romanian and then Albanian football.
He had been transferred to FCSB from FCU Craiova for about 300 thousand euros, but failed to secure an important role and, after just one year, left without compensation for transfer.
After adventure in Romania, Baeten joined Flamurtar in Albania. Even there, however, he could not stay long after leaving early 2026, after about six months. Later, Belgian midfielder continued his career in Kosovo, signing with Light.
His name had returned to the attention of Romanian media even because of a court case with former FCSB Club and owner Gigi Becal.
FIFA, on September 23rd 2026, had announced to the Romanian club ban on registering football players in the next three transitional deadlines, due to a debt of about 50 thousand euros to Beethoven.
The FCSB then canceled the financial obligation to Belgian footballer, resolving the issue that had brought the sanctions. Thus, Bateten won the battle for paying the sum he belonged to from his former club.
Meanwhile, his adventure in light has not gone without difficulty. After beginning to play regularly, Baette suffered a muscle injury that kept her out of the field for about two months.
