Under a large action by the Directorate for Investigation of Economic Crimes and Corruption, Kosovo Police have arrested two people in Prizren, under suspicion of smuggling drugs. Thousands of collections of medical products have been seized during the operation.
The operation has been conducted following intensive investigations into allegations of illegal trade and distribution of unregistered and unconfirmed drugs. Authorities raided several locations, including warehouses and businesses, where large quantities of smuggled drugs were found allegedly accessing the local market through illegal routes. Although it’s about smuggled goods, this action was conducted by police, but not by the agency that had to do it: Kosovo Customs.
According to signal reports, the two detained persons in the action are Shaban Hashan and Ozan Findiku, who were accompanied to the police station for interviewing and criminal charges for criminal acts related to smuggling and risking public health.
The seized goods have been sent for additional verification in co-operation with competent justice bodies and health institutions, while investigations to uncover the full network of this illegal activity follow.
