A special location on the plane has become used by an airline company, following the retirement of Cristiano Ronaldo from international football.
On Thursday, Ronaldo officially announced that he had held his last match with Portugal’s national after his clash with Jorge Jesus.
Ronaldo had left the national gathering on the last international holiday after remaining in the reserve bank for the entire 2-1 victory over Norway.
He was sentenced by the Portuguese Football Federation with a small fine and suspension, but after publishing a harsh statement of 1,740 words, he later confirmed that he was ending his adventure with Portugal, with 146 goals and 234 presentations.
Ronaldo, who published a five-minute video file, doesn’t seem to have a farewell match.
However, the five-fold Golden Ball winner has been honoured in an unusual way by RITransavia, a Dutch airline company.
The company operates in 110 destinations in Europe and North Africa, including Funchalin in Madeira, Ronaldo’s hometown.
Transavia has confirmed that, in honour of the retirement of Ronaldo, the 7C country has been removed from flights to Funchal.
They made this gesture known through a post in the official account at the Instagram, where they wrote: ) CR7 hangs our shoes on the nail, and our 7C countries have already been removed from flights to Funchal.
The post contained a photo of Portugal’s fanella with Ronaldo’s number 7, located in the seat near the corridor. Thus, no passenger will be able to reserve that location.
Responding for the first time to Ronaldo’s retirement, Coach Jorge Jesus said: Maybe things accelerated, but not because of me. He already had in mind that this moment would come sooner or later. It would always happen during my time as a coach. I don’t feel guilty about leaving him. I respect his decision and, of course, the story he built with the nationals. During this year and a half, I have developed a strong friendship with him. From a sports standpoint, he has made another decision, which I deeply respect.
Fanella number 7 is synonymous with Ronaldo, who has successfully carried her to Portugal.
Despite the gesture of Transavia, however, the number of his fans cannot officially withdraw from the Portuguese national.
This is because FIFA rules do not allow the withdrawal of fan numbers to nationally, as numbers between 1 and 26 should be set for official matches.
Lionel Messi has also retired from the Argentina national, but Albyceleste has decided to postpone his fan giving another player.
Since Argentina’s next two matches are friendly, she is not obliged to assign the fanella to another football player 10.
In the meantime, Portugal’s next two games are valid for the League of Nations, meaning that we will see another footballer carrying the fan with Portugal’s number 7.
In the last two appearances, the 7th fanella was entrusted to Galatasaray’s arm attacker Rafael Leao.
