Tragedy in Senegal: There is a shipwreck of immigrants, at least 34 dead and only one survivor

A severe sea tragedy has occurred along the northwest coast of Senegal, where at least 34 people have lost their lives as a result of shipwreck.

The heavy shower occurred during Saturday evening hours in the waters near the Kebemer region.

According to the first data, this tragic drowning has managed to survive only one person, as rescue search operations are continuing for the fate of other people who are still missing.

The event took place specifically near the coast of Lompolul, in the area between Dakar and Saint Louis, while most of the victims were allegedly residents of the Leona and Thiep areas.

The relevant authorities and emergency teams have been immediately mobilised on the ground for continuing sea research and providing needed assistance to families affected by this disaster.

This serious event once again turns to attention the extreme danger faced by thousands of immigrants from West Africa who travel to the Spanish Canary Islands in hopes of reaching Europe. During the first five months of this year alone, over 600 people have lost their lives on this dangerous marine line.
