The Alpin is developing a four-seat sports car with no retro design.

The Alpin is preparing a new four-seat electric sports car that will have a completely modern design, with no retro elements from previous brand models. The decision was made by the company’s executive director, Philip Kreef, following internal debates among designers about the direction the new model should follow.

Part of the designers wanted the new car, with a configuration of 2+2 seats, to be inspired by the Alpina A310, the typical model in the shape of wood, produced during the 1970s and 1980s, transmits Telegrafi.

Others supported a more clean, futuristic view inspired by the Albralow concept. Krief has already ruled out the possibility of old-style restoration, claiming that the model will have a special identity and very, very modern view.

New car will be built on Alpine Performance Platform platform ( APP, designed to support different types of carrots and motor systems.

The next generation of the A110 model will be the first sports car to use this platform, while its successor is expected to arrive around 2017. The company has not yet announced an exact date of sale.

The new 2+2 model will not copy either A110 or the concept of A310 Vision, which drew attention to the vehicle fair in Paris. Alpine presents the latter as an independent design study inspired by the original A310 and designed to demonstrate the possibilities of the APP platform.

Krief has explained that the decision relates to recognition of historical models by the international public. According to him, A110 is considered a car of eternal beauty and is known worldwide, while A310 is mostly valued by the French public and automotism enthusiasts, having a more limited attraction.

At the moment, A310 Vision does not have a confirmed successor for serial production and will remain an experimental design project. Krief has left open only the possibility of producing a very limited series of a model inspired by A310 without making the final decision yet.

He compared this idea to A110 Ultime, a special version created as a farewell model. Krief said such cars are not produced to generate profits, adding that, except for the Ferrari, few companies manage to earn money from this type of project.

It is still not established which model will come first after A110: the new four-seat electric car or a special version inspired by A310. According to Kreef, the decision will depend on brand recognition, customer demand and the network capacity of vendors to be profitable after A110 is on the market. /Telegraphy/
