Meghan Markle’s father is arrested for possession of child sexual abuse material

Thomas Markle, the father of Sussex’s Duchess, Meghan Markle, was arrested Friday in Florida, under suspicion of possession of materials containing child sexual abuse.

According to the American Department of Justice, 82-year-old was arrested by federal agents at a care centre near Tampa in the early hours Friday. He was expected to appear before the court in Tampa in the afternoon.

A 14-page federal criminal complaint says authorities have seized about 78 materials from two storage facilities in the Los Angeles area, which Markle had rented for nearly two decades.

According to the document, seized materials included photo explosives, slides, negative films, and books with illegal content.

The file includes a witness’s statement that two pictures presented a man, identified by him as Marquel, along with a naked minor girl. Meanwhile, the FBI is continuing to examine seized materials.

You risk up to 20 years in prison if convicted

Markle faces a criminal charge of possession of materials containing sexual abuse of minors. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 20 years in federal prison.

Mr. Markle is accused of possessing material of child sexual abuse, including photographs showing himself with minor girls, said Bill Essalili, the first federal prosecutor for California’s central district.

He stressed that the charges are very serious and that the prosecution will follow the case in accordance with federal law.

Even FBI Director Kash Patel said the agency would use all available resources to protect children and prosecute persons suspected of such crimes.
