Barcelona may have a significant lack on El Classicos’ eve against Real Madrid, as French defender Jules Counde is expected to be unwilling to face Sunday.
According to the Spanish newspaper Diario AS, the Counde has also missed Friday training, as recovery from the spraining of the ankle is slower than anticipated.
French defenders were hurt during the match against Real Betis, and despite attempts to recover in time, the likelihood that he will be willing to challenge Real Madrid is very small.
Counde also missed Barcelona’s 4-2 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. On Friday, he continued the individual rehabilitation programme at the gym, away from training with the rest of the team.
Protection problems add to Barcelona, as Eric Garcia is also out of the field because of an injury.
Under these circumstances, Xavi Espart is expected to continue playing on the right-hand side of defence in El Classico, following a good presentation of the PSG.
Barcelona will hope that Espart will confirm the form shown in Europe, in an important confrontation where shortages can affect team plans.
