GAzmend Hoxha has returned from the United States on Thursday evening to the quality of Kosovo Police Director General, but this was his last trip to the post.
On Friday morning, Hoxha has offered her resignation from the position of Police Director General, five days after the assassination of Arlinda Zekiaj in Vitomirica, Peja, whose brother-in-law Albert Sylaj.
His resignation has been accepted by Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who, with the nomination of Interior Minister Jedal Svechla, has named Fehmi Hoti in this position.
Hoxha was part of the Kosovo Police since the first generation of 2000. He took the helm of the institution in March 2023, while during this period he faced a series of security challenges.
Among the most important operations during his leadership was the Kosovo Police’s response to the terrorist attack on Zvecan Banjsk on 24 September 2023, conducted by an armed Serb group.
Kosovo Police Sergeant Africa Bunnjak, Hoxha’s colleague, was killed during this attack.
