Skopje Mayor Orce Gjorgievski, today at a press conference, gave a report on work done during the past year, during which he spoke of the municipal financial situation, infrastructure projects, public transportation, municipal hygiene and environmental protection.
He stressed that municipal debts and public enterprises have been lowered, that several capital projects are being implemented, and announced new investments in traffic infrastructure, greenery and public services.
A year ago, standing here in front of you, I vowed to change the destroyed Skopje we all lived in. That we would stop his fall. That we would again make a city strong, dignified and, above all, proud. I promised you work and work. I’m in front of you again today to answer for that promise.
We worked hard. We worked day and night. Knowing that there are people whose lives look forward to better times behind any unresolved problem. Our job was to create those better times. We knew the importance of duty. We did not withdraw from our responsibility.
Because there are times when a city must decide whether to continue learning about its fall or to gather strength and stand at its feet. We decided to get up. Let’s deal with the hard part. Open up issues that have long been postponed. And to continue where each new annulment meant another lost hope for our citizens, Djordjeevski said.
He also talked about other topics he said had invested during the period he is in the mayor of Skopje. /Telegraphy/
