The Constitutional Court in Gjilan has assigned a month’s detention to Brahim Demiri, suspected of killing his son, Adonis Demiri, and of criminally committing illegal weapons.
According to the Court’s announcement, the detention measure is scheduled after approval of the Constitutional Prosecutor’s request in Gjilan.
In a plea for detention, the prosecution claims the event took place on November 1, 2026, after midnight at the family home in the village of Demajj in Gjilan.
According to allegations presented by the Prosecutor, Brahim Demiri, following a physical conflict with his son, Adonis Demirin, allegedly deprived him of life.
Meanwhile, a child, D.D., had been found in the same house without signs of life, with signs of violence on her father’s bed, now of the late Adonis Demiri. At the scene, blood spots were also observed at the request of the prosecution.
The prosecution doubts that these actions have been deprived of life by two members of the same family.
The preliminary procedure judge has estimated that there are legal reasons for the detention assignment, stressing the danger the defendant, if released, could influence witnesses in order to co-ordinate statements and undermine the consequences of alleged actions.
Brahim Demiri is suspected of the criminal offence of serious murder and ownership, control or unauthorized possession of weapons.
Against that ruling, the parties are entitled to complaint at the Court of Appeals.
