Kosovo Medical Oda reacts after assault on doctor in Vushtrri

The Kosovo Medical Oda has reacted after the attack on doctor Dr. Rabbis Dremach, who was attacked by a patient on October 19, 2026, at the workplace at the Sheikh Zayed’s General Hospital in Vushtrri.

In the public response of October 20th, Oda of Doctors has condemned the attack, stressing that violence against health personnel should not be tolerated and that such cases are being repeated.

The physical and verbal problems of health personnel have no stop in any time situation, which at work without any protection and no particular care, are being exposed to the vandal and violent actions of service workers, said Oda’s response.

Oda has demanded that cases of attacks on doctors be handled with priority, calling for responsible institutions to take concrete measures to prevent their repetition.

The State and Court Procurory must be put into effect, especially in the phase of the preliminary procedure, so that the perpetrators of these criminal acts are assigned the detention measure, considering the probability that such work may be repeated to the doctor who has been exposed to such criminal action, it is said in response.

Oda has stressed that doctors, as individuals authorized to provide health services, should enjoy legal protection during duty exercises, especially when facing attacks at the workplace.

It has also called on health institutions and competent authorities to increase the level of security in health institutions, warning of the risk of exposure of doctors to violence.

Health Institute managers should know that it is not health workers who should deal with safe environment security, but they themselves through mechanisms they have, otherwise managers will be held accountable for possible incidents, said the response.

In the end, the Oda of Kosovo Doctors has indicated that he will use all institutional mechanisms to co-operate with other state actors, with the aim of preventing violence against doctors and creating safe working conditions for all health professionals in Kosovo. /Telegraph/
