Marko Kcak, head of Serbia’s Anti-Crime Police Directorate, has been arrested on Sunday morning at the Supreme Prosecutor’s order in Belgrade, under suspicion of abuse of official office.
Bosko Sekulovic, director of the Crime Press Service, has also been detained. According to reports, the detentions are linked to a criminal outcry presented by Veselin Milic’s lawyer, police deputy director and former head of Belgrade police.
At the heart of the case is the investigation into the murder of Aleksandar Nashovic, known as ‘%Baya, at the restaurant ↓27, in Belgrade’s Senjak neighbourhood. The police operation behind this crime was headed by Kcak, while Milic was also involved in the initial connoissement of the police.
Currently, Kricak allegedly forged evidence and exerted pressure on witnesses of the accused, with the aim of adapting facts to a predetermined version of the event. If proven, these actions would constitute serious interference in investigating a murder and violating the credibility of the structures responsible for fighting crime.
Nashovic, who reportedly was linked to Dejan Stojanovic’s criminal group, known as KESHA, was killed in May.
According to the version presented by the prosecution, on 12 May, about 11:00 p.m., he arrived near the restaurant with an armoured BMW X7. The meeting was allegedly invited by Milic, who had suggested that he come without security association.
Reports say Nashovic initially hesitated to enter after he saw the vehicles of some of the suspects. However, after a call from Sasha V., with which there had been conflict before, he returned and sat down at the same table with him, Mario S. And Milic.
The prosecution suspects that, after a debate, Sasha V. He fired several times in the direction of Nashovic. According to the investigation, the weapon was provided by Danka V., which had been handed over to Mario S., while the latter allegedly exceeded Sasha V.
In this case, Sasha V., 48, and Mario S., 46, are suspected of serious murder, weapons – related acts, and public danger. Danka V., 42, faces arms-related charges, while others are suspected of not warning crime and helping the authors.
According to the prosecution, after the shooting, Dejan S. helped the suspects drive to Shabakh, Lake Dobrodol, and then Stara Pasova.
Nashovic’s disappearance was reported by his co-existence after he had announced that he was at the restaurant shortly before the phone went off.
Media have reported that the meeting was organised as an effort for reconciliation between Nashovic and Sasa V. But new allegations against officials who conducted the investigation raise serious questions about the way evidence is collected and the integrity of the investigative process.
