Snow clouds close some of the main alpine neck in Switzerland

The thick snowfall has brought the premature closing of some of the most important alpine necks in Switzerland, limiting circulation to some major road axes.

According to the mountain neck portal of TCS, among the closed crossings are Gotthard, San Bernardino, Nufenen, Grimsel and Susten.

The closures are set for security reasons, while some of the necks have not been disclosed reopening deadlines, reports WatsonTelevision broadcast.

Meanwhile, the Furka’s neck has been temporarily closed until next Monday. For high – altitude crossings, winter closings are common, but this year the weather conditions have accelerated circulation in some of them.

Not all alpine necks are closed

Qafat Albula and Flüela in Engadine strengthened Di Livigno, Bernina, Julier, and Ore continue to be open for circulation.

Authorities call on drivers to inform them of the situation of the roads ahead of the trip, as snowfall and difficult weather conditions can bring other temporary closures.
