The camera went off in the midnight ocean area: Images of creatures living in the dark left viewers amazed

In the depths where eternal darkness reigns, unusual creatures, some almost transparent, others with scary teeth, and the ability to produce their light

Thousands of meters below the surface of the ocean is a world that seems to have been removed from a science fiction film. Where the sun’s rays never arrive, strange – shaped organisms, almost transparent bodies, and abilities continue to marvel at scientists.

Images from this mysterious environment have regained public attention, thanks to a documentary published by BBC Earth on YouTube.

Video, titled Mysterious Underwater Creatives of the DeepIt reveals some of the most unusual inhabitants of the ocean deep, including creatures living in the so – called midnight area.

Life in a Dayless World

The area of midnight, scientifically known as the baipelagic area, generally stretches from about 1,000 to 4,000 feet [1,000 to 4,000 m].

In this part of the ocean, permanent darkness reigns, temperatures are low, and water pressure is extremely high.

However, these conditions have not hindered the development of life. Rather, it has developed remarkable adjustments to find food, protect, and survive.

Some have the eyes adapted to distinguish even the dimest light, others rely on the special senses, while many have forms that rarely appear in shallow waters.

Living things that produce light in the darkness

One of the most impressive phenomena of the deep ocean is bioluminity, the ability of living organisms to produce light through chemical reactions.

In an environment where there is no sunlight, this ability can be crucial to survival.

Some creatures use lighting to attract prey, others to communicate, while some to confuse predators or hide from them.

Especially impressive are the light – producing jellyfish, creating starlike images that move into the ocean darkness.

But that light is not just fine. It is part of the complex strategies of survival in one of the most difficult environments on the planet.

The deeper we descend, the more strange life becomes

In addition to shining creatures, oceanic depths house organisms with unusual body forms, large mouth, sharp teeth, and ways that vary markedly from known animals.

Some of these adjustments are related to food shortages, since deep food sources are much more limited than near the surface.

Images published by BBC Earth have sparked numerous reactions on the internet.

How many more secrets can be hidden in the deep ocean?

While technology has enabled scientists to explore once elusive depths, much of the ocean continues to be a little studied.

Each expedition can bring new observations and discover organisms that have not yet been described by science.

BBC Earth images are a reminder that Some of the planet’s greatest mysteries are found, not in space, but here on Earth, thousands of feet below the surface of the water.

And perhaps that is what makes the deep ocean so fascinating – in its eternal darkness – life continues to surprise us. /Telegraphy/
