Albania’s prime minister, Edi Rama, has accused the movement of promoting violence during recent protests in Tirana, said that foreign forces are behind violent acts aimed at destabilizing Europe.
At a meeting with the management of the banking system, held after the damage to 38 bank branches and 42 ATMs in Tirana, Rama said the government would not make concessions in the face of violent protesters.
According to him, events in Tirana are part of a wider phenomenon that is also emerging in other European capitals, which he described as the neo-communist Marxist movement.
This is an orchestrated violence connected to external elements. It’s also happening in other European capitals through a neo-communist Marxist movement called Antifa, Rama said.
He added that violent protests include extreme young people who, according to him, are being used by forces aimed at destabilizing Europe. Rama also spoke of involvement of criminal elements and possible support from organised crime.
However, the prime minister contrasted violent protesters and students, saying they are not promoters or supporters of violence.
Terrified girls and boys who are calling back as in the Middle Ages to imprison and exile anyone they think represents evil and on the other hand is the component of criminality. The small crime of neighbourhoods meets with sponsorship of organised crime. Then they have support from foreign forces aimed at destabilizing Europe. These elements are not students. That part is not a promotion and supporter of violence, Rama said.
We remember that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has earlier warned of what he describes as a threat to extreme left-wing international networks, while the US administration has increased its attention to groups linked to the movement of Anatifha.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has announced the movement a year ago — “Antifha local terrorist organisation — accusing him of organising acts of violence, attacks on law enforcement and efforts to undermine law enforcement in the United States.
In the executive order, Trump describes Antiphat as a militant and anarchist movement, which, according to him, targets the U.S. government’s collapse, the rejection of law enforcement authorities and the overthrow of the legal system.
According to the document, this movement uses illegal means to organise and implement a country-wide violence campaign. Among the actions cited are armed clashes with police, organised riots, attacks on immigration and Customs Service agents ( ICE) and other law enforcement officials, as well as the publication of personal data of political figures and activists to expose them to threats.
