The president returns to the Assembly to review the Law on Specialised Chambers

The president of the Republic of Kosovo, Justina Shiroka Pula, has made a decision to return to the Kosovo Law Assembly for Change and Fulfilling the Law for Specialised Chambers and the Specialised Prosecutor’s Office in Kosovo.

According to the presidency’s announcement, during the day, the president has accepted the official proposal of the Democratic Party of Kosovo Parliamentary Group, as sponsor of the law, to grant the Parliament the possibility of his review, especially of provisions that connect with the jurisdiction and mandate of specialised Chambers, as well as the full guarantee of the constitutional rights of persons being tried near these chambers.

In the argument of the decision, President Shiroka Pula has stressed the sacrifice, engagement and contribution of the Kosovo Liberation Army and its leaders to the fight for Kosovo’s freedom and independence.

It has also recalled its support for the Republic of Kosovo Declaration of September 28th 2026, regarding the act of specialised Chambers in The Hague against Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi.

The president has reiterated the stance against any attempt to distort Kosovo’s historic truth, question the liberation character of the war or equate the people who fought for freedom and survival with the regime that oppressed it.

In the argument of the decision, the president has indicated that she has developed and is continuing consultations with representatives of relevant state institutions and subjects, with the aim of co-ordinating inter-institutional and diplomatic actions for the documentation, defence and affirmation of the historic truth of the Kosovo Liberation War and the role of the Kosovo Liberation Army, as well as for the best protection of its leaders’ rights and interests that are being tried in the Specialised Chambers.
