EBU Information Director Visits RTK for the First Time

Information Director at the European Broadcasting Union ( EBU), Liz Corbin, has visited Kosovo Radio Television, where he met with public broadcaster management and has become closely acquainted with editorial work.

During the meeting, ideas and experiences of public broadcasters in the region were exchanged, while the importance of sustainable financing was highlighted for RTK, as well as the creation of a unified intelligence Daescu.

One of the important things that the EBU constantly stresses is that public service media should have secure, sustainable financing, as well as independent. The advantage of being a member of the EBU is that RTK has access to all services, but also in the expertise of public service media in Europe and beyond. That means RTK will probably discuss the best practices and see how things work in other countries, Corbin said.

She also visited the areas where preparations are under way for the Kosovo Festival of Accords, where she praised the artistic potential and importance of promoting talents through RTK.

Meanwhile, RTK’s Albanian-language television channel director Arta Avdiu said the meeting has served in exchanging ideas and experiences. She stressed that, together with the executive director, Corbin’s recommendations have been welcomed.

The main problem remains low budgets. Then we discussed several different modalities as to how we can deal with these budgetary opportunities. He informed us of the way other spirit mediums acted. This has been the subject of conversation, as well as how to function a unified newsgroup, which is perhaps the best model. We also announced the implementation of the festival, Avdiu said.

The visit aims to strengthen communication and exchange of experiences between RTK and EBU.
