Ebola takes the second victim in Kenya, seven infected are being treated in isolation

Kenya has recorded the second death from Ebola as the country faces the first outbreak of this disease in its history.

Kenya’s Health Ministry announced that the second victim is a 65-year-old woman, relative to the first victim, a man who had travelled from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

According to health authorities, the woman died after being quarantined, reports the BBC.

Meanwhile, seven other patients infected with Ebola are receiving treatment at two detention centres. According to the BBC, among them are three other relatives of the first victim, three health workers and a cleaning worker at the hospital.

The outbreak of disease in the region has caused great concern, as more than 4,000 people have died in Africa since Ebola confirmed in the Democratic Republic of Congo in May. This explosion has been described as the second most deadly disease.

Ebola is a rare but potentially deadly disease caused by a virus. Symptoms may include vomiting and diarrhea, which in serious cases can lead to organ failure. Some patients may also experience internal or external bleeding.

Health authorities are continuing to treat infected patients and measures of isolation to prevent further spread of the disease.
