A hundred people were arrested Saturday evening in Barcelona, as participants disguised in a protest against the system robbed shops and burned urban equipment near central Placa de Catalunya Square, reports Reuters Follow Dukeagini.
Catalone’s Interior Minister, Núria Parlon, said about a quarter of those arrested are minors. According to her, over 30 fires were caused, while 14 shops were damaged or looted in the area frequented by tourists and buyers.
The gathering was called through social networks. The scattered images showed masked persons breaking the window and taking goods, while some citizens remained inside shops after the bars were lowered to prevent looting.
Barcelona Mayor Yaume Colboni warned of the punishment of those responsible and legal consequences for the custody of minors involved, Reuters writes.
