Tahiri urges resignations and dismissals following Arlinda Zekiaj’s assassination

The Alliance’s Parliamentary Group chief, Besnik Tahiri, has called for resignations and dismissals following the assassination of Arlinda Zekiaj, saying that beyond the comfort and condemnation of the case, institutions should reflect and take responsibility.

At the extraordinary Kosovo Assembly session called after the assassination of Arlinda, Tahiri has said this case should not be treated as an isolated tragedy, but as part of a phenomenon requiring concrete response from responsible institutions.

He has criticised the lack of actions beyond public statements, stressing that institutions and elected representatives should reflect on their responsibilities.

The murder of Arlinda is a tragedy that has shocked us all. But it is not an isolated case. Unfortunately, it is becoming a phenomenon that in Kosovo owes us, especially to those who are in the Assembly, elected, but also responsible institutions to reflect and, above all, seek responsibility, Tahiri has said.

He has estimated that expressing condolences and punishing crime is not enough unless they are followed by concrete actions and institutional accountability.

It is not enough just to express condolences. It is not enough to condemn the case. It is not enough to continue speaking only when tragedies occur, he has declared.

Tahiri has since demanded that there be resignations and dismissals, naming them ethical acts in the face of the pain the case has caused citizens.

Today there would have to be reflections, there would have to be resignations, there would have to be dismissal, there would be nothing ethical to an event that caused pain to all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, Tahiri said.
