Nothing natural and logical had in the power of Aleksandar Vuciqi in Serbia.
Someone can immediately react here by saying that the natural and logical are now and how much virtuous in absence even in the greatest and most democratic states of the West.
Yeah, that’s true.
But first, sooner or later, there will be a return to nature and logic. There’s another one.
In Serbia, this situation, this regime, over 14 full years, was in effect as it suffered a collapse with elections held this Sunday, October 25th.
Vuchy was an autism in a literal sense. He was at odds with more than half of his people and I told the entire region, starting here with Kosovo, was close to Russia and China, was distant from the EU, and constantly negotiated to save himself with Washington and Brussels.
He has done extremely great damage (not a few who qualify these damage in Serbia as irreparable), wherever it had a role, while reports with Kosovo, also turned armed conflict (the case of Banjsca, September, 2023), and in an effort to trigger the clash between the Serb community in the north and the power of Kosovo.
As the EU and the US continued, since 2011, when the dialogue started in Brussels, they have insisted that Kosovo and Serbia, through these talks, should arrive at the stage of full normalisation of relations.
Nothing normal today is in this relationship of Kosovo and Serbia.
That’s known.
The victory of the Student List in this election, so it was expected and natural because Aleksandar Vuciqi had expired. Like Slobodan Milochev in 2000, when he lost power, after causing four wars in the spaces of the former Yugoslavia.
But this list prevailed because Mother Nature (political) was fed up with the folly of the former president of Serbia, not because this List offered genuine political and even civilizing alternatives to that power.
The Student List ‘%s’ fought hard the Vuciki regime when it comes to its power in Serbia, but did not object to its foreign policy — in regional policy — in its relations with Kosovo, Croatia, Montenegro. Furthermore, it’s about differences that measure between Aleksandar Vučić and Student List.
There are those who say that this list has not been able to win differently than with an approach to such an absolutely dominant opinion in Serbian politics and society. They then add that, in the future, after the new government of Serbia is formed, the literal position of new power should be understood on all these very important topics for the long-term stabilisation of the Western Balkans.
Maybe. But there is no reason not to be suspicious here in us, but also in the region, towards the approach of new power in Serbia, when it comes to regional and international policy.
While there is, objectively, better test of the new power in Serbia, in this regional and international context, than the report of this power with Kosovo.
The Student List has undoubtedly the main credit it made and imposed, in a hundred ways, mostly with mass protests around Serbia, the reality of the power of Aleksandar Vuciqi. Or that everything in and around him was a fraud and a lie.
Otherwise, no major change would occur in Serbia, on October 25th.
It should also happen with the dawning and imposing the reality of relations between Serbia and Kosovo as two independent states.
Everything else is fake and fake.
