Fenerbahce has come up with a sharp response following incidents reported in the derbin to Galatasarayt, demanding full investigation and punishment for all persons involved in the alleged attacks on its footballers.
In the official communiqué, the club from Istanbul claims the situation was initially tense following insults towards Kerem Akturkoglu, before the incidents escalated into physical clashes.
According to the Fenerbahce version, Matteo Gudendouzi was attacked by Serhat Dogan, part of the Galatasaray analysis team. The club also claims that Abdulkerim Bardakci, who allegedly attracted Fenerbahces’s hair to football player, was involved in the incident.
Club leaders have strongly condemned what they consider unacceptable behavior, stressing that the tension accompanying a debtor cannot be used as a rationale for attacks on football players.
Rivalry and the tension of a debt give no one the right to attack our footballers. What happened could not be justified with the derbitão operation, the Fenerbahces communiqué says.
The club requires that all incidents be thoroughly reviewed and responsible persons face disciplinary measures, regardless of their position or role.
The way to prevent violence in Turkish football is for those responsible not to go unpunished, the response concludes.
It is already expected to be seen whether the relevant organs will initiate procedures for complete whiteening the events and whether there will be disciplinary measures against the persons mentioned. /Telegraph/
