The Swiss Football Federation has indicated on Tuesday that it has thoroughly examined the two cases and considers the return of football players reasonable following the completion of the legal procedures and sporting consequences they have had.
Jaka, who plays in the midfield, had admitted that in 2022 he had obtained a counterfeit vaccine certificate so that he could travel and play soccer. He and the federation had agreed that footballer was missing Switzerland in the October matches in the League of Nations against Scotland, Slovenia and Northern Macedonia.
Meanwhile, assailant Breel Embalo had left the national list in late September on the same issue.
Both football players have been sentenced to 150 thousand conditional Swiss francs for a trial period of two years.
Switzerland’s national director, Pierre Tami, has said their return to November is a responsible and fair decision.
Jaka has apologized for his move and accepted responsibility, calling it a mistake.
The Federation has also confirmed that Jaka will not be removed from the captain’s tape. The decision on this issue remains in the hands of team and selective Murat Yakin.
Switzerland will hold the last two games of the group phase in the League of Nations against Slovenia and Scotland in November. Currently, the Swiss lead Group E with twelve points.
