Food and Veterinary Agency ( The AUV has temporarily banned the sale and ordered the withdrawal of the frozen chicken meat market, imported by Brazil by the KPS Epet company, as the presence of the salmonella Minnesota bacteria has been calculated in the samples.
According to AUV’s announcement, the bacteria have been identified during extraordinary imported meat checks, which were ordered by Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development Minister Armend Muja.
Based on laboratory results and on provisions of the Food Law, The AUV has imposed a temporary ban on the circulation of identified products, their deployment under official control and withdrawal from the market.
The products involved in this decision are:
Coopavel origin Brazil, number of approval SIF 3887, LOT R-14427.
Superfrago origin Brazil, number of approval SIF 3404, R20598.
AUV has made it known that Salmonella Minnesota is a pathogenic serotype of the salmonella entellica bacteria whose presence in food poses a potential threat to human health.
This bacterium can cause gastroinstinal infections and can be transmitted through the consumption of contaminated food or crosscontamination during treatment and preparation of meat.
The agency has called on consumers who possess products with the identified numbers of LOT not to consume and turn them into retail stations.
Meanwhile, extraordinary checks are continuing to verify the total amount of imports, including traceable products from access to Kosovo to retail points, distributed amounts and remaining amounts, labelation, production and expiration dates, veterinary certificates, conservation conditions and additional laboratory tests.
According to AUV, the operator is responsible for insurance and tracking products, attracting them from the market and informing consumers.
The agency will monitor the implementation of measures and determine the final treatment of products based on risk assessment, including annihilation in cases where this is necessary.
AUV has indicated it will inform the public of the results of the raids and further measures.
