A common traffic ban has ended up quite different for a citizen in Gracanica. Alfred Sinan, who had two unpaid fines for narcotics and possession without permission, has ended up in prison for 90 days, as two court warrants were active in police control.
Signal Gazette sources suggest that the event took place Friday, October 30th, around 13:30, when police officials at the Gracanica station have banned Sinan, about 34 years old, during a raid on communications.
But what initially seemed like a routine checkup ended with the discovery that Sinan was required for the execution of two prison sentences.
According to information the signal has provided, following association at the station and verification of data, police have found there were two active arrest warrants issued by the Constitutional Court in Pristina.
Out of 1,800 euros in fines, to 90 days in prison
Signal sources reveal that the first arrest warrant was linked to a penalty for the unauthorized possession of narcotics, psychotropic or analogic substances for which Sinan was sentenced to 1,000 euros in fines.
However, because of his failure to pay, the court had replaced the fine to 50 days in prison.
Meanwhile, the second arrest warrant was linked to another sentence — this time to keep ownership, control, or unauthorized possession of weapons — for which he was fined 800 euros.
Even this fine had remained unpaid and had been replaced with 40 days in prison.
Thus, the two fines, totaling 1,800 euros, had become a total of 90 days in prison.
After confirming the warrants, police officials have taken action to execute them.
Sinani has been sent to the Hyvali Correct Centre, where she will serve the 90-day prison sentence.
From a traffic ban, directly to the correctional institution, the two unpaid narcotics and weapons fines have cost Sinan three months of freedom deprivation.
