Kurti: 2027 budget with over one billion euros for capital investments

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has indicated that the 2027 budget bill will be adopted Monday at the government’s next meeting, while warning that for the first time the budget for capital investments will exceed one billion euros.

At the meeting of the Vetevendosje Movement General Council, Kurti has also talked about election processes, recalling the February 9th 2025 elections and later elections that, according to him, were held due to political blockades and the inability of the institution’s constitutional institution.

He has said that despite successive elections, the Vetevendosje Movement has continued to remain the biggest political subject in the country.

From February 9th 2025, when we again gained confidence in the elections after a full mandate, due to the blockades producing elections, the Republic of Kosovo did not have full institutional stability. They blocked the election of the prime minister, then the prime minister and last of the president, Kurti has declared.

He has added that in each election process the result confirmed support for LVV. On each side of the election, the result was more or less confirmed: The Vetevendosje movement continued and continues to remain the largest political subject in the country and in the assembly. For the strong firm faith, despite the challenges we went through, from elections to elections, the Vetevendosje Movement and I are forever grateful to the citizens of the Republic in Kosovo and to the Mrgata, he has said.

Kurti has also mentioned Presidential election on 6 October, thanking his coalition’s 62 deputies who participated and voted for Justina Shiroka Pula.

Kurti: Special Act is unfair, must be corrected in the Appeal Stair

As for the trial against former Kosovo Liberation Army leaders in The Hague, Kurti has described him unfair and has demanded that he be corrected in the Appeals Scale. This act must be changed and corrected in the Appeals Stair, and as soon as possible, Kurti has declared.

He has made it known that the Government has approved the establishment of a task force for drafting and harmonising the state strategy regarding appeals procedures in Specialised Chambers in The Hague. According to him, the group consists of representatives of parliamentary institutions and political subjects and is led by the first Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Glauk Konjufca.

Speaking of the 2027 budget, Kurti has said he will focus on capital projects, economic growth and improved job quality.

It will be the budget of capital projects, accelerated economic growth and increased quality of jobs. So, not only more jobs, but better-paid jobs, Kurti has declared.

He has stressed that the budget will include investments in road infrastructure, railway and dams, as well as support for municipalities.

This is the budget of roads, railways, and dams. And for the first time, the budget for capital investments will exceed the value of 1 billion euros. It will also be the budget for municipalities with a total of 908m euros. This is an increase of 2/3 compared to the budget we had inherited, he said.

In his address, the prime minister has also stopped at the European integration process, saying Kosovo meets the conditions for obtaining candidate status and opening negotiations for membership in the European Union.

He has made it known that for 20262027 Kosovo is expected to benefit 180.5m euros from pre-membership IPA funds, while this year it has also secured 119m euros in grants from the Investment Frame for the Western Balkans.

Kurti has also cited 61.8m euros in pre-finance from the Growth Plan, as well as the requirement for the release of 153m euros for reforms implemented by June.

He has stressed that approval of the SEPA law on October 15th is expected to bring savings of about 55m euros annually from bank transfers.

Also, it has indicated that the Government is negotiating for Kosovo’s membership in the European Union’s roaming area, which, according to him, will lower the costs for citizens and businesses during travel to EU countries.

Kurti for protests in Albania: Kosovo is not and will not be rival to her sister

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has stated that political developments and protests in Albania are being conveyed with concern, stressing that Kosovo should not be seen as Albania’s rival.

Kurti has said that the protests in Albania, which, according to him for about four months, were peaceful, were accompanied by even stronger clashes between protesters and rule forces.

We always love Albania despite our circumstances. It is an integral part of our national being. Hence, developments there are followed with concern, caution, responsibility, and, however, by love, Kurt said.

He has stressed that Albania’s democratic progress is national historical responsibility.

It is of vital importance that we Albanians testify to ourselves that we know to build justice and democracy that sticks to the pressure of capitalism and government that does not bow to oligarchy, he has declared.

Kurti has also commented on rumours that, according to him, have attempted to link Vetevendosje Movement to protests in Albania.

I have seen with amazement various voices that have tried to fattify even Vetevendosje these protests taking place in the Republic of Albania. But dear general Council delegates and activists and other members, we are today the governing force and are not the protest force, Kurti has said.

He has added that the LVV has not instrumentalised protests, nor has it agreed to be instrumentalised by others.

We are in charge of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, and Kosovo is not and will never be rival to her sister. We rejoice in Albania’s advances towards the European Union or the achievements of economy and tourism in Albania, the prime minister has declared.

Kurti has expressed the desire for Albania’s achievements to be consolidated and expanded through joint projects with Kosovo in various areas.

Commenting on the confrontations during the protests, he has said that violence and people’s injuries are disturbing, but they also need to analyze the causes of confrontation.

But it is not enough to determine the criminal responsibilities of violence alone. It also needs to be understood, its roots, its conditions, and the reasons for conflicting. Public order and freedom of protest must be protected simultaneously, Kurti stressed at the 64th meeting of the Council General of Vetevendosje Movement.

It has also highlighted the importance of young people’s involvement in decision making and creating conditions for a dignified future in Albania.

We want a Albania where democracy survives every government, where institutions are stronger than any force of injustice and where justice is a convention and social action in which national freedom gets meaning through social justice has ended Kurti.
