20-year-old Albanian dies tragicly in Italy, hit by car after going out to establish triangle

A 20-year-old of Albanian origin has lost his life in a serious traffic accident on the A1 highway in Italy.

The victim is Thomas Kyriyaj, who was involved in Friday’s first hour accident, October 30th, near the area of Melegano, in the direction of San Giuliano Milanese.

According to Italian media, the young man was traveling along with four friends in a Volvo-type car with Swiss license plates when the vehicle lost control and crashed into the highway lane division.

After the crash, Thomas got out of the car to set up the emergency triangle and warn other leaders of the danger. In those moments, however, he was hit by a SUV vehicle, driven by a 25-year-old man from Modena.

The young man was rushed to Predabis Hospital in Viszolo, but he failed to survive his wounds. The other four in Volvo suffered no serious injuries.

Thomas was born in Piaceza and lived with his parents in Caorso, in the province of Piaceza. He came from a family of Albanian origin and in December he would be 21.

His death has shocked the community he lived in. Caorso Mayor Roberta Battaglia has expressed condolences for the family, while the amateur football club where Thomas played cancelled the planned mourning match.

Meanwhile, Italian Road Police and the Lod Prosecution have launched investigations to fully whitewash the accident’s circumstances. The SUV leader is also expected to undergo toxicological analysis under investigative procedures.
