Prime Minister Albin Kurti has pointed to projects the government envisions to deal with the new budget for 2027.
Kurti said at a government meeting that over 1 billion euros will be shared exclusively in the category of capital investments. Here he mentioned the Pristina Ring, a project for which the capital’s head, Progress Rama, accuses Government of blocking for years.
This budget will be the budget of major capital investments. For the first time, the budget envisions over 1 billion euros in capital investment category only. These include building new roads, such as Pristina’s Foreign Ring, the Dudhl-Bannula segment that unites the two highways, the Dukagjini highway, and many other regional and national roads, Kurti said.
The capital’s foreign ring would solve the problem of heavy traffic in the capital, according to President Progress Rama, who said it could only be accomplished because Albin Kurti’s government was failing to obtain a loan in the EURZH.
In the election campaign for the 2025 local elections, this plan of the LDK candidate was considered HINA defundacy and the number one priority of Hajrka Ceku, then LV candidate for Pristina chairman.
The project was the main promise in Rama’s first election campaign, the architect who had come from London to solve some problems at the Kosovo helm. The project would have been realised, according to him, had the government not blocked it. He said that for years they were only looking for a étick from the Ministry of Finance to allow the municipality to obtain a soft loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development ( BERZH, which he said the capital could pay for 1015 years itself. The bail from the government didn’t come.
The ring that would include 29km of foreign roads in the capital would be the biggest project in Pristina’s history.
