US Attacks Military Targets on Iranian Island Smile

The United States of America has carried out limited attacks on Iran’s smiling island Monday evening, according to reports by American media.

The attacks, which have been described as defenders, have targeted the ground-air missile systems used against American assets, The Wall Street Journal, Reuters and Associated Press reported.

According to reports, however, the attacks are not seen as a signal to resume a large military campaign against Iran.

News of the attacks became public hours after US vice president JD Vance declared he was optimistic about the progress of diplomatic efforts to end the war.

President and I feel very good about reaching an agreement through negotiations. We’ve obviously made some progress. We’ll see if we can do more, Vance said.

Meanwhile, Iranian state media reported that several explosions on the island were heard on Monday evening, but their cause was initially not clear.

According to The Wall Street Journal, President Donald Trump’s administration has carried out other smaller-scale attacks on Iran in recent weeks that have not been made public. These attacks, according to the paper, have been deliberately kept secret to avoid the impression that the US is preparing to resume the military campaign.

The island is at the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic route for shipping and oil. During the war, Iran has used this area for attacks on ships passing through the straits.

Even though the attacks have ceased in recent weeks, Iran has continued to implement the Hormuz Strait blockade, targeting oil tanks, container ships and other vessels that try to pass through it.

If confirmed, this would be the first US-made attack on Iran in weeks.

The developments come on the eve of US Muslim elections, held Tuesday. The Republican Trump Party is expected to face voter discontent due to the impact of the war on the cost of living, especially rising fuel prices.

Trump, in an interview for Fox News, has downplayed the impact of the conflict, saying there is currently no active war and that there is a good opportunity for reaching the deal with Iran.

However, he warned that the US could also be forced to attack the facility known as Mount Piccaxe, a fortified underground facility in Iran, allegedly used as a nuclear facility.

Trump said such an attack would not be any big deal and that it could be accomplished within an hour.

In his concluding election campaign speech in Washington, the US president also praised the significant decline in oil prices, while his administration is promoting new diplomatic efforts to end the war.

The rise in gasoline prices, as a result of the conflict, has become one of the main issues of the mesmandat elections.
