Real Madrid has now started planning the future of the gate, as Thibaut Courtois is approaching the final phase of his career. Among the gatekeepers being monitored by the Spanish giant is Dutch Bart Verheugen, who currently defends Brighton’s colors.
According to the German newspaper Sport Bildjournalist Ben Fernandez Santos has confirmed that Real Madrid is carefully following the Dutch goalkeeper’s development.
His appearances in the Premier League have attracted the attention of the Madrile Club, while interest in it has also increased thanks to performances with Brighton and the National Republic of Holland.
At the age of 24, Verheugen is now one of the key players of the English team. Despite his youth, he has also gained international experience.
One of his last glimpses that got in his eyes was that against Manchester City, where he managed to keep the gate intact, helping Brighton win 1-0 on the trip.
Verbuggen’s contract with Brighton is valid until 2028, a detail that can make its transfer more suitable for Real Madrid.
This period coincides with the expected conclusion of the Courto contract, in case the Belgian goalkeeper signed its continuation until the same year.
However, Verheugen is not the only name being considered by the Madrillian leaders.
Over the past few months, Real Madrid has been associated with several other goalkeepers, including Portuguese Diogo Costa, French Guillaume Restes, Italian Gianluigi Donnarumma, and Luca Brugmans and Spanishist David Raya. /Telegraph/
