Former Ambassador Blerim Canay has criticised the lack of actions to return to the Specialised Chambers Law Convention, assessing that the issue has been neglected, though there had been protests for 21 days.
Canay, invited to HINA FIVE) in Dukagjin, said he hopes the initiative for this law has not been just an act for domestic political consumption.
He estimated that Kosovo institutions had to prepare diplomatically from the start, given that the issue would include the European Union and the international community.
I hope it wasn’t just an act of internal consumption, I think that when such a law is drafted and given that we had to deal with a political court, of course it had to be introduced to the law because from the beginning it was clear that the European Union and the international community would get mixed up and that it had to be sensibly ed up.
Canay estimated that despite pressure, the process for the law should not be halted.
But given the situation we’ve had in government and given that Kosovo diplomacy has had instructions to care more about this case we’re here and then we come to the point where it looks like we have a co-ordination of non-intensiveness and overarching individual ambitions. I mean, the law shouldn’t stop without pressure, Canay said.
The former ambassador also criticised the fact that, after protests lasting 21 days, the initiative for law was no longer mentioned, while inside The PDK, according to him, has shifted attention to the question of who the party’s next chairman will be.
But start with such a law and protest on the street for 21 days all those people and now that all leads to the idea of ambition instead of talking about law inside. The PDK as a sponsor of the law is talking about who will be the next chairman, this is their greatest duty than what is happening with the law and this is depressing, Canaj said.
