From Serbia with tractors and mountain roads, more than 10,000 euros are seized in smuggled goods at Ranillug

Kosovo Customs and Kosovo Police have prevented a case of smuggling goods to the village of Corminyan in the municipality of Ranillug, where goods worth more than 10,000 euros have been seized.

The event was held on November 5th, under the Operational Plan Operational Strategy 202650, following operational information on allegations of smuggling goods from Serbia.

During the operation, police units have set up two ambushes and managed to stop three tractors of the type Rakovica, with improvised trailers and registration plates. The vehicles had allegedly entered illegally from Serbia, via mountain and alternative roads, towards the village of Corminyan.

In this case, three suspected persons — Serbian nationals and Kosovo citizens — who allegedly were involved in smuggling goods — have been detained.

During the search of the vehicles, there have been found and seized 144 crates of brands Heineken’s beer, two professional printers, seven equipment grids, 250 kilos of ground meat, two sausage sacks, 324 live chickens, two professional printers, seven microk and six 24-inch computer monitors.

The overall value of seized goods is estimated to be over 10,000 euros, while the final value will be determined after the assessment by competent authorities.

The three tractors and trailers allegedly used to transport goods have also been banned under the operation.

Dogan and the Kosovo Police have indicated that all actions have been conducted in co-ordination with the competent prosecutor, while the case is being investigated by the Regional Investigation Unit of the Regional Border Directorate.
