Macedonia’s Social Democrat League claims Prime Minister Hristian Mickoski has made the decision to enter the Alta Bank into the Macedonian market and requires the prosecution to open investigation into the case.
LSDM spokeswoman Bogdanka Kuzeka said that from a statement by People’s Bank Governor Trajko Slaveski, it is confirmed, according to the party, that the decision has been taken to political influence.
The LSDM seeks to investigate capital background, money circulation and bank-related decision-making, also seeking the European Prosecutor’s involvement.
The opposition party also raises questions about Mickoski’s role in contacts with the bank’s potential buyers and whether it violates the People’s Bank’s independence.
