DThe event about the prestigious GoldenTopi award has received another dimension, as the CIES Football Observatory has published the statistical rankings of best performance players during the last year, where the absolute leader results in Barcelona’s talent, Lamine Yamal.
The publication of this report comes just a few hours before the Gala ceremony held in London, where Yamal tops the 95.8-point list, leaving behind the biggest stars of global football.
The CIES study has been built on three rigorous criteria, individual performance in different components of the game, competition difficulties level and results achieved by the respective teams.
Right after the Spaniard ranks Bayern Munich’s duo, Michael Olyse in second position with 93.9 points and Harry Kane in third place with 90.5 points.
The report’s main surprise bears the name Leonel Messi, even at 39 years of age, eight times the winner of the Golden Ball is ranked fourth in the world with 90.4 points.
In fact, according to CIES itself, the Argentinian star would be the undisputed leader of the table if the league level cofficiency where it activates.
Barcelona dominates the seven-point stop-Thiren; along with Yamal, midfielder Pedri stands in eighth place (90.3 point) and defender Pau Chubarsí in the tenth (90.0 points).
These include other great names, such as Desert Doue ( 5th), Kyian Mbppe (sixth), Kvilica Kvaratskhelia (7th) and Manchester City’s goal machinery, Erling Haaland, which is ranked ninth.
Another surprising clue is the position of Osmane Deblees, the last official winner of this trophy, who in the CIES performance index only figures in 27th place.
Although the statistical assessment of CIES does not decide the fate of the trophy since it is determined by the votes of international journalists, figures add more fire before the ceremony is launched.
