Berisha: DP does not back down from protests, preparations for local elections

Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha said the opposition would not back down from the protests, while urging the mobilisation of party structures and continuing preparations for the upcoming local elections.

During a meeting held today at PD headquarters with district working groups Tirana, Berisha discussed continuing opposition action, organising protests and strengthening facilities on the ground.

He stressed that the energy created by civic mobilization, especially the commitment of young people, must be transformed into a stable political force.

Let the youthful explosion not be wasted. We do not give up the protests, as the protest is part of our own, Berisha said, seeking to follow up on the mobilisation of the Democratic Party structures.

Header The DP said the opposition’s goal remains to confront Prime Minister Edi Rama’s rule and create conditions for political change. In this context, he described the protest as an instrument of civic and political pressure.

Berisha also called for party structures to start preparations for the upcoming local elections, stressing that field organisation should move parallel to the opposition action.

Another issue discussed was the unification of political and social factors against the government. We hope to set up a common front in the country’s interest, Berisha said.

The meeting with district working groups Tirana took place under the Democratic Party’s commitment to strengthening structures, expanding civic mobilization and co-ordinating opposition action.
