The PDK chairman Vlora Citaku’s task force has called for a joint institutional and state engagement in support of former KLA leaders facing the judicial process in The Hague, Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi.
In a response published in the case of their six-year trip to The Hague, Citaku has rejected the act of first degree, through which, according to her, four former leaders have been pronounced a total of 81 years in prison. It has named the verdict unfair and unacceptable, claiming it conflicts with evidence, standards of a fair judgment, and historical truth of liberation war.
Citaku has estimated that the consequences of this process go beyond the fate of four indictees, as, according to her, KLA history and Kosovo’s path towards freedom and independence have also been questioned.
In its response, Citaku has demanded that Kosovo institutions engage in drafting a State Strategy for the Appeal process, strengthening judicial protection, providing financial support and intensifying diplomatic efforts.

Today it is six years from Hashim Thaci’s visit to The Hague, Kadri Veselin, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi. Six years from families, freedom and country for which they gave everything.
The first – degree bias, with a total of 81 years in prison, is for them deeply unjust, while for us completely unacceptable. We strongly oppose it because it conflicts with evidence, standards of right judgment, and the historical truth of our liberation war.
Not only four rescuers have been questioned in this process. The KLA’s own story has been questioned and Kosovo’s path towards freedom of independence.
But our story doesn’t start at court at The Hague. And it cannot be rewritten by an act of law!
Free and independent Kosovo is the result of the sacrifice of an entire people, of the KLA’s holy war and of the decisive support of our allies, the US, European countries and NATO.
Today is the time for the Republic of Kosovo to stand firm for its history and its rescuers.
Joint state engagement, beyond party differences, for drafting the State Strategy for the appeals process, strengthening judicial protection, providing necessary financial support and intensifying diplomatic commitment, is in the works of this protection.
In parallel, we are working on completing the Law on Specialised Chambers to create a more complete and sustainable judicial support for our deliverers.
We seek no privileges. We seek justice! And we will not allow a judgment to distort the history of a people who fought for freedom.
Because the Republic that was born of the sacrifice of its deliverers today has the obligation to stand by them.
Deliverers, you hold fast! We will never leave you alone!
Not today. Not tomorrow. Never.
The signal where the truth speaks before the news!
