The Vetevendosje movement, which ten years earlier had pressed charges and doubts against Luan Reka over investigations into the Astrit Dehari case, has already advanced him to the position of the new regional police director in Gjilan, writes Insander newspaper.
Luan Reka, who in 2016 was deputy director of the Antiterrorism Unit and was involved in the investigation into Vetevendosje activists arrested in connection with the Kosovo Assembly attack, has already been appointed to a key leadership position in Kosovo Police.
At the time, Vetevendosje had publicly raised doubts about Reka’s ties to the Democratic Party of Kosovo ( PDK). Through a public reaction, the party had claimed it was placed in the position of deputy director of Antiterrorism thanks to the PDK’s influence.
To support her claim, Vetevendosje had also published photos of Reka in the company of his wife, Miranda Keka, who had been a PDK candidate for deputy. In another photograph, it was seen in the company of former PDK Parliamentary Group chief Zenun Pajaziti.
These claims were part of the political clash of the time, when Vetevendosje opposed the way investigations and the role of police officials were under way in the case related to the arrest of its activists and the death of Astrit Dehar.
Ten years later, the situation appears differently. Vetevendosje is now in power and Luan Reka is advanced to the position of the new regional director of police in Gjilan.
