Kosovo customs has prevented an attempt to smuggle 300 plant protection products at the border checkpoint in Vmica.
According to Dogana’s announcement, during the search of a truck with goods entering Kosovo, the customs official has noticed a modified space in the vehicle as controls and customs ammunition were conducted.
When asked if there were other goods to declare, the truck driver reported nothing additional.
During the search of the suspicious space, officials have found some bags for which the driver had claimed to contain personal clothes. However, detailed control has revealed 300 plant protection products for which neither bill nor relevant documentation had been presented.
In terms of the case, Dogana has initiated counter-evasive procedure in line with the Customs and Actis Code.
Kosovo customs has reaffirmed that it will continue controls for the prevention of smuggling and introduction of undeclared goods, which could pose risks to people’s health, environment and agriculture.
