At today’s session of the Economic and Social Council ( The ECS), social partners discussed several issues of importance to workers, employers and citizens’ living standards, with special emphasis on the average consumer basket prepared by the Ministry of Economy and Labour.
Economy and Labour Minister Besar Durmish stressed that the goal of the new methodology for calculating the consumer basket is to provide an objective, transparent and statistics on the real cost of households, which will serve as the basis for creating quality economic and social policies.
Our goal is not to show a lower figure, but to offer a verifiable, transparent and statistics on family costs.
The data should serve as the basis for making responsible decisions and measures that will contribute to improving the standard of living and protecting citizens’ purchasing power, Minister Durmish stressed.
