Filkov: I haven’t changed my mind, the jurisdictional exam should only be given in Macedonian.

Former Justice Minister Igor Filkov supports party leader Maxim Dimitrievski’s stance that the lawyer’s exam should be delivered exclusively in Macedonian.

Filkov says there is currently no possibility that the exam will be given in another language, referring to the Constitution and the laws of the country.

He stressed that his position on the issue has been the same during the time he headed the Ministry of Justice.

We, like ZNAM, are consistent and principled in the attitude I’ve represented since I was a minister and standing behind the same. At the moment, there is no possibility of giving the exam in another language, according to the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Macedonia. Let’s just wait for a solution, let’s see, and then we’ll talk… It’s not about whether or not I’m against it. First, for that hybrid solution, let’s call it that, I’ve learned from you, the media. I do not object to someone giving the exam in that language that is enabled in accordance with the laws and the Constitution, but what concerns me is that such a hybrid solution was rejected by those who protest and refuse to give the exam in the language that should be used in all those institutions where they plan to work, as judges, lawyers, prosecutors and similar ones. This is more than disturbing.
