Kosovo Parliament Speaker Albulen Haxhiu has hosted the OSCE ambassador to Kosovo, Gerard McGurk, with whom she has talked about women’s rights and security, youth empowerment, media freedom and electoral reform.
Haxhiu, through a post on her profile on the social Facebook network, has written that attention has been paid to the parliamentary agenda for gender equality and the role of the Assembly in overseeing institutions and preventing violence against women.
With OSCE Ambassador to Kosovo Gerard McGourk, we had an open and sound discussion on issues that require our mutual attention and commitment. We discussed women’s rights and security, empowering young people, media freedom and electoral reform. Special attention we paid to the parliamentary agenda for gender equality and the role of the Assembly in overseeing institutions and preventing violence against women.
We also discussed the Parliament’s legislative priorities and opportunities for support, Haxhiu has written.
