Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has called for a full and immediate investigation into the murder of Arlinda Zekaj in Vitomirica of Pec, stressing that she had warned of the danger to her life just three days before she was killed.
Speaking in the Parliament, Kurti said Arlinda Zekaj did not receive the protection she needed to save her life.
A fellow citizen of ours requested, but did not receive the protection he needed to stay alive. Arlinda Zekaj was killed yesterday. The cruel murder of Arlinda Zekit is shocking to all of us, Kurti has declared.
The prime minister has mentioned that just three days before the assassination, Zekaj was addressed to the prosecution, warning of the danger to her life.
According to Kurti, these circumstances require full investigation into the way institutions handled the victim’s indictments and reasons why its warning was not followed with concrete safeguards.
He has asked the prosecution and the responsible institutions to clarify the responsibilities for handling the case, stressing that any violations should be cleared up.
The suspect in the murder, according to reports thus far, continues to be on the run.
