Oncology Clinic Director at the University Clinical Centre in Kosovo ( QKUK), Ilir Kurtishi, has declared that the temporary lack of the Palbociclib drug in this clinic has resulted from the loss of planned spending, as the number of patients who started treatment was twice as much as the initial forecast.
In a statement published Friday on the QKUK Facebook page, Kurtishi also provided details regarding the treatment of a late patient who was suffering from breast cancer and who, according to him, had not been without drugs throughout the treatment period.
According to Kurtish, the patient was diagnosed six years ago with breast cancer, a negative triple form, considered aggressive. By December 2025, the disease had returned with advanced metastases in peritoneum and bones. After appearing in the consortium of Oncology Clinic, she was diagnosed with another form of breast cancer, the positive hormone.
As early as December 2025, according to him, the patient had started treating Palbociclib and Fulvestrant drugs, which are used in treating the metastatic forms of breast cancer positive hormone.
Kurtishi has said that the patient was constantly forwarded by the responsible doctor and treated in monthly cycles.
