Top of the list Vuchiqi defeated: I mobilised to Army in 1999 to protect Serbia from NATO

Ilija Srdanovic, the bearer of the Student List that came first in the October 25th early parliamentary elections in Serbia, has confirmed that it was mobilised during the 1999 NATO bombings, saying that the service was carried out on Vojvodina’s territory to protect Serbia.

In an interview for Croatian newspaper 24sataSrdanovki denied that he had participated in the war in Croatia, while declaring he had been mobilised in 1999.

He also said he wants professional co-operation with colleagues from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia and other countries in the region to extend to the state level.

I mobilized in 1999 to protect Serbia during the NATO bombings. I mobilized to Vojvodina territory. I did not participate in the war in Croatia, took part in protecting Serbia during the 1999 bombings on Serbia’s territory, Srdanovqi said, denying participation in the war in Croatia.

His statement comes when the Student List is expected to represent a political change in Serbia, following the loss of Aleksandar Vuciqi and his coalition in the 25 October elections.

According to the Republican Election Commission’s preliminary results, the list of students has secured 140 out of 250 seats in Serbia’s Assembly.

We remember, that Vuciqi, who dominated Serbian politics for more than a decade, was a member of the Serbian Radical Party, led by Vojislav Sehesheli (condemned for war crimes), and minister of information in the Balkan butcher’s government Slobodan Milosevic from 1998 to 2000.
